We Create Sustainable Trails for Nature Enthusiasts.

Since moving to Pierre in 2015, Uriah has helped communities turn their trail visions into reality by guiding projects from concept through construction with a hands-on, rider-driven approach.

Benchmark Trails has earned recognition for its craftsmanship and professionalism. During the Great Bear Trail System project in Sioux Falls, the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) described Benchmark as “one of the most professional and well-performing contractors” they’ve worked with and praised the team’s ability to build high-quality, sustainable, and fun trails.

Today, Benchmark Trails partners with public agencies, private landowners, and nonprofits to create natural-surface trails, flow trails, pump tracks, and long-distance recreation routes that support active, thriving communities.

We build trails for people who love to ride—and for communities investing in their outdoor future.

  • Jake — Lead Builder / Foreman
Jake has been part of Benchmark since the first day. He’s not just a teammate—he’s a close friend who helped build this company alongside me project by project.

From digging dirt jumps in New Jersey to leading our field crew today, Jake brings a rider’s eye, a steady hand, and a ton of loyalty to every build.

  • Vanessa — Trail Crew
Vanessa brings heart, strength, and a deep love for nature to the Benchmark team. She works to make sure that when we finish a project, the landscape looks clean and organic—almost untouched. This season, she’s stepped into her first full-time role while continuing to grow her skills on the mini excavator.

  • Mike — Seasonal Crew / Admin Support
One of the original volunteer trailbuilders from the early days, Mike has been part of Benchmark’s story since before the company launched. He joins the crew seasonally to support hand-finishing, compaction, and trail work, and also assists with document prep and meetings. Mike’s steady professionalism and history with the team make him a valuable presence both on and off the trail.
